How to Set Up Call Forwarding on Bell, Vidéotron and Telus
The codes to forward your calls to another number on a Bell, Vidéotron or Telus landline or cell phone: always, when busy or when unanswered, and how to cancel.
Updated on September 17, 2026
Call forwarding sends the calls received on your number to another number. It is the one change that lets a receptionist, a colleague or an answering service pick up without changing the number your customers know.
It takes a minute, once, with a code dialled on your own device. Here are the codes for the three big carriers in Quebec, landline and mobile.
Before you start
- Have the destination number ready, all 10 digits. If the number is outside your local calling area, add a
1in front (for example1 514 555 0100). - Dial from the line you are forwarding. On a landline, forwarding cannot be turned on remotely.
- Pick the right kind of forwarding. There are three, and the choice changes everything:
| Type | What happens | When to choose it |
|---|---|---|
| All calls | Every call goes straight to the destination | You no longer want to answer yourself |
| When busy | Only when you are already on the line | You answer, but one line is not enough |
| When unanswered | After a few rings with no answer | You answer when you can, the destination takes the rest |
For a business adding a receptionist, "when busy" plus "when unanswered" is usually the most natural combination: you stay in control, nothing gets lost.
Bell
Landline (home phone and small business)
Instructions published by Bell for its home phone service.
| Action | Code |
|---|---|
| Turn on forwarding for all calls | *72, then the destination number |
| Turn off | *73 |
Activation in detail: dial *72, wait for three beeps and then a dial tone, dial the destination number. If someone answers, stay on the line at least five seconds. If it rings with no answer or the line is busy, wait three seconds, hang up and repeat the whole thing a second time: that second attempt is what turns forwarding on.
If your phone is plugged into a Home Hub 3000 modem, the procedure is shorter: *72, then the number followed by #, and a message confirms.
On a rotary phone, *72 becomes 1172 and *73 becomes 1173.
Mobile (Bell Mobility)
Bell does not publish dial codes for its cell phones: the official method is your device's settings, which send the request to the network.
- iPhone: Settings → Phone (or Apps → Phone) → Call Forwarding → turn on, then enter the number.
- Android: Phone app → ⋮ menu → Settings → Calling accounts or Calls → Call forwarding → choose "Always", "When busy" or "When unanswered", then enter the number.
Standard GSM codes also work on most Bell plans, with the number in full format (+1 followed by the 10 digits):
| Action | Code |
|---|---|
| All calls | **21*+1NUMBER# then Call |
| When unanswered | **61*+1NUMBER# |
| When busy | **67*+1NUMBER# |
| Check status | *#21# |
| Cancel all forwarding | ##002# |
A confirmation text arrives when forwarding is on. Call forwarding may be billed pay-per-use if it is not included in your plan; check before leaving permanent forwarding in place.
Vidéotron
Landline (home and business phone)
Vidéotron's phone service uses the usual North American codes.
| Action | Code |
|---|---|
| Turn on forwarding for all calls | *72, then the destination number |
| Turn off | *73 |
Dial *72, wait for the tone, dial the number. Wait for the confirmation (beeps or a message) before hanging up. The "when busy" and "when unanswered" options depend on your plan; they can also be managed from the online customer area, under the line's calling features.
Mobile (Vidéotron Mobile)
Vidéotron's mobile network accepts the standard GSM codes or, more simply, the phone's call forwarding settings (same paths as in the Bell Mobility section).
| Action | Code |
|---|---|
| All calls | **21*NUMBER# then Call |
| When unanswered | **61*NUMBER# |
| When busy | **67*NUMBER# |
| Cancel all forwarding | ##002# |
Telus
Landline (home and business phone)
| Action | Code |
|---|---|
| Turn on forwarding for all calls | *72, then the destination number |
| Turn off | *73 |
Same procedure: *72, tone, number, wait for confirmation. Telus also offers "when busy" and "when unanswered" forwarding on its business lines, activated by phone or through customer service.
Mobile (Telus, Koodo, Public Mobile)
Telus publishes the GSM codes for its cell phones.
| Action | Turn on | Turn off |
|---|---|---|
| All calls | *21*NUMBER# |
#21# |
| When unanswered | *61*NUMBER# |
#61# |
| When busy | *67*NUMBER# |
#67# |
| When unreachable (off, no signal) | *62*NUMBER# |
#62# |
Dial the code and press Call; a message confirms. Forwarding is not available on Telus-network prepaid plans, and it is billed pay-per-use when not included in your plan.
Business VoIP or PBX system
If your business phone runs through a VoIP system (Ooma, RingCentral, Zoom Phone, 3CX, a local provider), star codes do not apply. Look in your admin panel for "Call forwarding" or "Overflow destination" and enter the destination number. Most let you forward by schedule: open, closed, lunch break.
Test it before you rely on it
- Call your number from another phone.
- Confirm the call reaches the right destination, and after the right number of rings if you chose "when unanswered".
- Write down the cancel code somewhere:
*73on a landline,##002#or#21#on a cell phone. Everything is reversible in seconds.
If a code does not work, it is almost always a plan issue: ask your carrier to enable call forwarding on your line. The codes above are the ones published or commonly used as of September 2026; they can change.
With Callomi, you keep your number. You turn on forwarding once, to your AI receptionist's number, and she answers every call, books the appointment or the table and confirms by text. Our team can walk you through it by phone if you prefer. See how it works or try it.
